40 Days of Prayer
   March 3, 2004

Today, we begin a journey together. There’s something about a special season of prayer--your heart and mind will be flooded with ideas. I suggest that you record your insights so you can review them as the days unfold.

For the next 40 days, we will join hearts for a special season of prayer, and we are expecting God to move in our hearts and in the hearts of our community. Let’s look at our hearts in the light of Psalm 37:4,

“Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.”

The dictionary defines “delight” this way: great joy & pleasure;
to take pleasure in; to appreciate; to revel in; to relish; to enjoy; to savor; to bask in.

What gives you the greatest delight? Is it another person? Is it something you do? Is it some special possession?

Would you ever describe your thoughts toward God as “delight”? Do you find great joy and pleasure in knowing and doing His will? Think about it like this:

As we delight in Him…He changes our desires.
As we delight in Him…He becomes our desire.
As we delight in Him…we begin to desire what He desires.

Father,
Help me to find great joy and pleasure in knowing You. I know Your ways are right and Your plans are good. I desire to delight in You, in Who You are, and I want to find great joy in being Your child.

I pray in Jesus’ Name.
